The much anticipated day has finally arrived! I leave for Puerto Rico tomorrow! It's definitely a surreal feeling but the reality of my next aventura (adventure) is starting to set in.
This time tomorrow, I'll be somewhere in the air with thousands of maripositas (little butterflies) fluttering around in my stomach, anxiously waiting to do what I love to do...enseñar Español! (to teach Spanish).
As of tomorrow until March 3, 2012, I will be teaching Spanish to a class of sixth graders at a school in Puerto Rico. Yep, I will be teaching native speakers of Spanish...SPANISH! I can hardly imagine the tremendous challenges and incredible learning experiences I'm about to encounter. Nervous doesn't quite describe the feeling. Neither does exciting, intimidating, thrilling, or terrifying. I'd say it's an insane combination of all those emotions and more. The feeling is truly indescribable, and in my short 22 years of life...anything I've ever experienced that could be considered indescribable...is pretty much beyond any adjective in the English language.
So, here's to the aventura! I hope this blog serves as a little insight and taste of my time on la isla (the island) of Puerto Rico. Enjoy!
