¡Buenos días!

¡Hola hola mis amigos!

Hello from sunny San Juan!  We made it!

The traveling yesterday was INTENSE!  Aside from waking up at 2:00 am with only an hour and a half of sleep, arriving at the airport in Pittsburgh at 4:00 am, flying to Charlotte to board another four hour flight to San Juan, PR while schlepping around probably close to 100lbs worth of luggage...we made it!

La isla is BEAUTIFUL!  We were greeted with not only 85 degrees of pure sunshine, but also by the smiling faces of the Puertoriqueños.  I've never been to a place where people are so proud of where they live.  Now, don't get me wrong...I know we are more than patriotic in the States...but here in PR, they bring an entire new meaning to the word patriotic!  Like I said, we are all proud to be Americans...but I've never been on a flight with Ohioans who clap the moment we land back on the Buckeye state's soil.  Yesterday, the flight attendants and all the Puerto Ricans who surrounded me were so thrilled to touch down in their isla preciosa as they applauded and cheered for their safe arrival home.

After a little travel mishap and blip in communication with our ride from the airport, we finally made it to our dorm! The drive from the airport to the campus was gorgeous.  (You'll probably read that word a lot when I reference pretty much anything in Puerto Rico).  We drove over a beautiful bridge lined with Puerto Rican flags.  I was pretty excited to be driving down this bridge too because it gave me a taste of the view I'll have while running the "World's Best 10k" in February! :)

Later we arrived at the gorgeous (told ya I was gonna use that word a lot) Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río de Piedras campus. We unpacked a little and then headed out to explore la ciudad de San Juan!  While exploring, we found a little supermercado where we bought some basic college dorm food and then went to a place called Pizza móbil.  After one HUGE slice of pepperoni pizza, we walked around campus and saw some amazing buildings like la torre below.

(It's a little dark but you get the gist)

After exploring and finding our school where we'll be teaching, we unpacked and hit the sack.  I don't think exhausted would suffice to describe how tired we were.

Today we're off to meet with our teacher for lunch and begin planning the next two months of wonderful.  I'm ready to take on the challenges and take in this beautiful place called Puerto Rico!

Thanks for all your love, support and prayers!

Dios te bendiga,

Jenn
